Synastry and other relationship charts are most commonly abused

In my personal experience as a semi-professional astrologer for a quarter century, synastry and other kinds of "relationship" astrological methods, are the ones most commonly abused.

I don't say that they don't signify any real information.   They do.   I'm just saying that they're the most commonly abused kinds of astrological methods.   Because....

...because where romantic/sexual/marital relationships are concerned, is precisely where most people are most tempted to see what they want to see, AND (even worse) to PROJECT their own bullsh-- onto their partners.

Partnerships, especially including marital or otherwise romantic/sexual ones, are represented by the Seventh House.  And so are "open enemies".   The Seventh House is where we are most tempted to project our own problems onto another person.

For example, some years ago, I knew a pretty young woman who had Mars in Pisces in her Seventh House.   And her Mars was natally square Uranus, and Mars-Uranus is a symbol of "bikers" and other unpredictably violent males.  And the Modern ruler of Pisces is Neptune, the planet of alcohol.   SO, she constantly complained that she could never find any "good" men, and that all of the men who express interest in her are "scum".    AND, she had a habit of throwing alcoholic drinks in the faces of men who come on to her.   Hmmm....

...so I asked her, "WHERE do you meet these men?"   She said she usually hangs out in biker bars.

Hm.   She meets most of her men in biker bars.  Because that's where she chooses to meet men.   So she sets herself up to meet unpredictably violent men - IN BARS - and then she ritually throws alcoholic drinks in their faces, because after all she's Virgo-rising, and Virgo is "pure", yeah?  And the OPPOSITE of Virgo is alcoholic Pisces, IN HER SEVENTH HOUSE, WITH MARS (men) THERE, AFFLICTED BY URANUS (bikers, sociopaths)...

Ah, but in HER mind, SHE was "pure" and the OTHERS (drunken male bikers) were guilty of being "impolite" to her.

In sum:   If and when anyone on this forum ever counsels an astrological client complaining about relationships, you should presume that everything that the client complains about in his/her partner(s), is actually the client's own problem, being projected onto "the other".

Therefore, to my mind, there is no such thing as "relationship" astrology, UNLESS the client has extraordinary self-awareness of his/her own deepest flaws and deepest lies and self-deceptions.    Otherwise, the client needs to learn what Pogo said:  "We have met the enemy, and he is us!"

PS, minor correction:  Her Mars in Pisces was not square Uranus, it was opposite Uranus in Virgo.   But the dynamic of her Mars-Uranus was even stronger for that opposition.

I think you need: A) an astrologer who has the balls or ovaries to read the client the riot act when necessary and B) a client who is there to actually listen.

I think if you're actually looking for the truth to be untangled from one's projections, then relationship astrology is great.

I totally agree.

I cannot tell you how many times I have looked at a situation in a client's life that they are bringing to me for resolution and thought to myself, silently, "If I could just see your birth chart I could untangle this! What a mess!" and then sometimes I *do* get their date of birth (non astrologers are completely freaked out when you say, "yes, but what time and where?") and then it all falls into place.
